Pinellas County Commissioner and STBC board member Ken Welch (2nd fromL) won the tiger at the August 8, 2008, program at the Feather Sound Country Club, for asking the Democratic candidates for U.S. Congress District 10 their opinions on offshore drilling. The prize went to USF student Gail Davis (L) at the June 26, 2008, program at USF St. Petersburg, for asking Creative Loafing Political Editor Wayne Garcia why the Club didn't ask young persons for their input directly on the "Youth Vote" topic.
Pinellas County Commissioner and Past President of STBC Bob Stewart (R) added a tiger to his collection for the toughest question asked of Sheila McDevitt (L), Vice Chair of the Florida Board of Governors, at the May 20, 2008, program at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club.
Member Wendy Paser (R) took the prize for asking St. Petersburg Times' Tallahassee Bureau Chief Steve Bousquet (L) what Governor Crist might say now about his promise to hold education harmless while campaigning for Amendment 1 (which resulted in cuts to K-12), at the May 6, 2008, program at the Feather Sound Country Club.

 
Longtime member Don Crane (R) got chuckles and the tiger for asking author and noted Florida political historian David Colburn (L) if he thought there was any current leadership to note in Tallahassee, at the April 15, 2008 program at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club.

Member Willi Rudowsky (center) won the stuffed tiger at the very spicy April 4 debate on the Proposed Marriage Protection Amendment featuring John Stemberger (L) and Nadine Smith (R) at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club.


 

Florida Republican Party Chairman Jim Greer (R) gave the tiger to Past President Tom Dunn (L) at the March 18, 2008, program at the Feather Sound Country Club. Dunn asked whether George W. Bush's unpopularity had ruined the Republican "brand name."

United States Senator Bill Nelson (L) fielded several tough questions at the February 22, 2008, program at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, but longtime member Paul Tash (R) took away the tiger for asking Nelson's opinion on the integrity of one of his peers who's seeking the presidency.
Member Maurice Williams (center) won the tiger for asking William March (L) of the Tampa Tribune and Adam Smith (R) of the St. Petersburg Times, why their discussion of the presidential primary didn't include any "issues," at the February 6, 2008, program at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club.

 
Board member and Past President Gregory Wilson (R) added another tiger to his collection, this time from Capitol Steps cast member Michael Thornton, who added a little comic relief to the Annual Meeting on December 20, 2007, at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club.
It was a tie for the tiger between board members Bruce Marger (far L) and Past President Gregory Wilson (far R) at the November 20, 2007 program at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, featuring Col. Steve Strawder (Ret.) of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps.
Member Ray Arsenault (L) won the tiger from Attorney Darryl Rouson, member of the FL Tax & Budget Reform Commission, at the November 8, 2007 program at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, where Rouson tasked the Club with offering a more diverse array of speakers.

 
Member and City of Largo Mayor Pat Gerard (L) took home the tiger for asking FL Senator Charlie Justice his position on the state legislature taking local taxation decisions away from municipalities and their residents, at the October 24, 2007 program at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club.

 
Young Tiger Daren Miller from St. Petersburg High School won the prize from Pinellas County School Superintendent Dr. Clayton Wilcox at the October 9, 2007, program at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, for asking about racial balance ramifications in the proposed school assignment plan.
Member Carolyn Fries (2nd from Left) took home the tiger for asking St. Petersburg City Council District 3 candidates Debra Johnson-Woodard, Chris Kelly and James Bennett what role the city should play in helping its citizens increase their earning potential, rather than focusing solely on cutting taxes and insurance rates, at the September 7, 2007 candidates' forum at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club.

Political Science Professor Darryl Paulson (R) took the prize for toughest question of Col. Michael Pheneger, U.S. Army Ret., who filled in for former Georgia Congressman Bob Barr on April 5, 2005, at the Renaissance Vinoy's Sunset Ballroom to discuss the ACLU's position on the Patriot Act.


 

Past STBC President Gregory Wilson added another stuffed tiger to his collection for his tough question of Florida Department of Children & Families Secretary Lucy Hadi on March 2, 2005, at the Renaissance Vinoy Resort's Sunset Ballroom.

Young Tiger Kahram Meyers of Lakewood High School (R) started off 2005 with a bang, winning the tiger for a very well-composed question to Dr. Karen Brown Dunlap, President of the Poynter Institute, on January 27, 2005 at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club.

 

It was a rough round of questions for Florida ACLU Executive Director Howard Simon (R) at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club on December 2, 2004, but Paul Tash (L) came out the winner of the Fang & Claw Award, true to its name at this meeting!

Incoming Pinellas County Schools Superintendent Dr. Clayton Wilcox (R) made an impressive inaugural appearance in the Tiger's Den at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club on September 28, 2004. Pinellas Classroom Teachers' Association President Michelle Dennard (L) walked away with the stuffed tiger for her winning question of the super.

 
Only the truest of tigers turned out the day after Hurricane/ Tropical Storm Frances rolled through, but the show went on as planned. Veteran Fang & Claw winner Linda Osmundson (L) won the prize for the toughest question for Senator Jim Sebesta (R), at the September 7 program at the Feather Sound Country Club.

Eschenfelder wins a Suncoast Tiger Bay Club "Fang & Claw Award" on 8/29/02
 
STBC President Keith Bailey (L), presents the tiger to Rob Eschenfelder on August 29, 2002 at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club after a Candidates' Forum for Pinellas County School Board, District 4 (pre-primary).

 
Professor Darryl Paulson, a seasoned questioner and questionee, won the tiger from controversial suspended USF Professor Dr. Sami Al Arian on August 1, 2002 at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club.

Brand-new Tiger Darryl Rouson (R) won the tiger from Governor Jeb Bush at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg Campus Activities Center on July 12, 2002.

Paul Tash (L) had the winning question for John Loftus at the Bayfront Center Sun Pavilion Room on June 24, 2002.
Tampa Tiger Bay member Dr. Edward Stein (L) crossed the Bay to win the tiger from FL House Speaker Designate Rep. Johnnie Byrd on June 12, 2002 at the Radisson.
